Story
Sara Suchman is the Executive Director of the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS). Sara was one of 3 founding members of NCMPS 2012. After serving in various roles during its early years, she moved into the Executive Director role in 2020. Sara leads an innovative and dedicated team focused on strengthening and expanding equitable, accessible, sustainable, and humanizing education through publicly funded Montessori.
Over the course of her career, Sara has taught in PreK – 16 classrooms in both public and private programs, at home and abroad. Her passion for Montessori began as a student in a Montessori middle school and deepened through her work as a teacher and leader. Sara’s doctoral research examined the intersection of learner-centered education and government-mandated standards and testing, using public Montessori as one of her case studies. Today, she leverages her expertise in education reform to make Montessori education not only accepted but expected in any head start, charter, or district portfolio.
Sara holds an MAT in ESL from the School for International Training, an MBA from Stanford, and an Ed.D. from Harvard in Education Policy, Leadership, and Instructional Practice.
