Is your child care program an ideal learning environment? The principles of ideal learning are drawn from developmental science and the wisdom of expert educators, and they can come to life in any early childhood setting.

When looking for a child care program, you can look for the principles of ideal learning in practice by observing the center, the educators, and most importantly, the children.

For example, the first principle of ideal learning environments is related to equity and inclusion. Are all children engaged in learning? Are home cultures present and celebrated in the center? Are home languages encouraged in addition to English language development? Do educators reflect the communities children come from?
