Sonia Dominguez

Sonia Dominguez is the President of AVANCE, Inc., where she oversees all internal departments and leads execution of strategic priorities to advance equity and expand educational opportunity. With a career spanning executive leadership, operations, and program innovation, she has served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Programs Officer, and Senior Director at a collective impact organization, in addition to holding leadership roles within K–12 school systems in central office administration.

Sonia began her career as a public middle school math teacher, grounding her leadership in a practical understanding of classroom realities and student needs. Her expertise includes organizational transformation, cross-sector collaboration, and equity-driven strategy development. She has led system-level reforms, strengthened program outcomes for diverse communities, and cultivated inclusive leadership practices that center community voice.

Sonia is the proud granddaughter of Mexican immigrants and a Head Start alumna, experiences that shaped her deep commitment to equity and opportunity. As the first in her family to graduate from college, she brings lived experience and perspective to her leadership. These roots fuel her passion for advancing equitable outcomes and expanding pathways of possibility for Latino families and under-resourced communities.
