Emily helps to run Bank Street’s Education Center, which works with leaders from schools, districts, states, teacher preparation programs, and communities across the country to advance system-wide change and support capacity building at scale. Her work focuses on strengthening policy at all levels and providing strategic support to partners to create conditions for change and to support the flourishing of progressive practice. Her recent work has focused on early childhood policy and developing new partnerships and programs for public impact. In this role, Emily led the team that researched and published Investing in the Birth-to-Three Workforce: A New Vision to Strengthen the Foundation for All Learning. She has spent the majority of her career working in urban education and public school reform, including 10 years at the New York City Department of Education overseeing a variety of strategic reform efforts for the city, and serving as a Network Leader providing instructional and operational guidance to 26 schools K to 12. Emily has also held a variety of roles in the philanthropy, nonprofit management, and community development sectors. Emily holds an MPA from Columbia University’s School for International & Public Affairs and a BA from Wesleyan University.
