Dr. Sharon Damore, AMERICAN Montessori SOCIETY
Dr. Sharon Damore has over 35 years’ experience working in elementary, secondary schools and higher education. Her degrees include an Ed.D., Educational Leadership; M.Ed., Curriculum and Instruction, Major: Special Education and a Montessori 3-6 credential. Sharon’s knowledge and skills range from Montessori education; school accreditation and consultation; curriculum and instruction; school leadership/organizational change; teacher education; strategic planning; research; to professional development school partnerships. Her publications focus on her work in Montessori education, charter schools, and teacher education. She is the immediate past Executive Director, Association of Illinois Montessori Schools (AIMS); Adjunct Faculty, Seton Montessori Institute, Administrator Program; and Adjunct Faculty, Educational Leadership, DePaul University. Her extensive consulting includes both private and public schools and not-for-profit associations. Dr. Damore’s volunteer work spans across Montessori: she is a current member of the AMS Board; former AMS School Accreditation Commission; and former Chairs of AMS Research and Policy Committees. Her leadership in the Montessori movement continues today as a founding member of the Montessori Public Policy Initiative (MPPI), a collaborative effort on policy and advocacy between AMI/USA and AMS. She and her husband reside in downtown Chicago, Illinois.
